Ottapalam Tahsil in Palakkad District (Kerala State, India) is a locality where more than 30% of the population is Muslims. This community as far as this place is concerned, is educationally backward rather deprived. It is a fact to be noted that the number of civil service officers and professional are too negligible from this area. In order to eradicate the educational, social, financial, cultural, moral backwardness and to direct the Muslim community in the main stream of the country, some young and dynamic persons of this

locality constituted a charitable society namely Markasul Ishathil Islahiyya Trust Ottapalam (Ottapalam Markaz) on 15th July 1993. It is registered under society Registration Act 21st 1861 as per the Registration No. 245/94 dated 27/4/1994. The Trust is blessed under the Chairmanship of Shaik Aboobacker Bin Ahammed (Kanthapuram A.P Aboobacker Musliyar, General Seretary, All India Jam-Iyyatgul Ulama) President. Janab Kombam K.P Muhammed Musliyar and secretary Janab. M.V Siddique Saquafi, Ottapalam.

Generally Muslims in Kerala go to Madrassa (Institution where religious education is given) on account of time immemorial compulsion from the society. As regards the formal education, it is very rare that they go to schools to continue the formal education because all such institutions are conducted by the communities other than Muslims. The parents feel reluctant to send their wards to such institutions. They may send their wards provided, they can pursue their education in a pure religious setup where they can maintain their beliefs and traditions. In order to find a remedy to all, or at least to some extend, Markazul Ishaathul Islahiyya Trust (ottapalam Markaz) started the following institutions.
